Tom, an American boy receives a box of tulips from the Netherlands. In it he finds a book about the Netherlands with a letter in it. The letter was written by one Katrina (Trijntje) Schulder from Volendam. Tom dreams of travel to the Netherlands and visits Katrina in her village. Next we see The Hague (Royal Palace, Peace Palace), Aalsmeer, Alkmaar, Leiden, Marken and Amsterdam (Central Station, Rijksmuseum, Dam Square, Leidseplein). Eventually Tom awake and promises himself to someday actually go to the Netherlands and to visit Katrina.
