Alex Mercer (born 17th March 1934) is an Australian professional golfer. He began his sporting career with a series of tournament wins in the 1950s and 60s, until a serious back injury forced him into coaching. In this role, he taught famous Australian players such as Steve Elkington, Jan Stephenson, Peter O’Malley, and Michael Campbell. He was a Professional at Royal Sydney Golf Club for 35 years, and spent 19 of these years as the organisation's Head Professional.
