Born in Jambi. Education: high school, ABA, English course (LIA), and University Prof. Dr. Mustopo (1972-1977). Before going to the film Deddy became a Selecta reporter, then became the managing editor of Stop magazine. In this magazine he became acquainted with the screenplay. When an offer from Wim Umboh (1939-1996) came up with a scenario, it was agreed. Yet at that time he was completely blind about the scenario.
